Paul M. Karpecki, O.D., F.A.A.O.

Dr. Karpecki graduated from Indiana University and completed a fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at Hunkeler Eye Centers in affiliation with the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1994. He currently serves as Director of Research for Moyes Eye Clinic in Kansas City. Dr. Karpecki serves or chairs numerous optometric association committees including chair of the Refractive Surgery Advisory Committee to the AOA and on the AOA Education Committee. He has lectured in over 300 symposia covering four continents and is the first optometrist to be invited to the Delphi International Society at Wilmer- Johns Hopkins that includes the top 25 dry eye experts in the world, and the National Eye Institute's dry eye committee. This was a task force established by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to better understand and treat dry eye disease in women. A noted educator and author, Dr. Karpecki lectures on the topics of new technology, surgical advancements and therapeutics with an emphasis on cornea and external disease. He presently serves on 7 professional journal editorial boards.

Andrew M. Archila, O.D., F.A.A.O.

Andrew M. Archila, O.D., F.A.A.O. is currently the Department Head and a Staff Optometrist at the Naval Health Clinic Great Laskes Optometry Department.  He recently completed an MBA Fellow in Clinical Administration at the SUNY College of Optometry and an MBA in Health Care Administration at Baruch College's prestigious Zicklin School of Business in New York City. He was named the Navy's Junior Optometrist of the Year for 2003. He regularly lectures during Grand Rounds in the military setting and has been published in contemporary journals including Review of Optometry and Military Medicine. He is a co-author of the Armed Forces Optometric Society Newsletter's "Clinical Business Page". His areas of expertise are in hospital-based optometry, emergency room consultation and productivity issues. He has been Adjunct Faculty for the University of Houston, Pacific and the Southern California College of Optometry and currently holds the same position with the Illinois College of Optometry. He is also the President of Taste and CE Italy, LLC.

Joseph T. Boorady, O.D., F.A.A.O.

Joseph T. Boorady is a graduate of the State University of New York, College of Optometry.  He is currently the Chief Opertation Officer of Eyemaginations, Inc., the leader in patient communications and animation.  Dr. Boorady left the position of VP, Clinical Affairs and Executive Director of the University Optometric Center of the SUNY College of Optometry.  Prior to this role Dr. Boorady had served as the Director of Managed Care as well as the Director of Continuing Professional Education at SUNY. Dr. Boorady has owned and operated multiple private and group practices and has consulted in the eye care field extensively.  He serves on several advisory boards and continues to lecture internationally.

MURRAY FINGERET, O.D., F.A.A.O.

Dr. Murray Fingeret, a graduate of the New England College of Optometry, completed a residency at the Joseph C. Wilson Health Center in Rochester, New York. Dr. Fingeret is Chief of the Optometry Section, Brooklyn/St. Albans Campus, Department of Veterans Administration New York Harbor Health Care System. Dr. Fingeret is a Clinical Professor at the State University of New York, College of Optometry, a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a member of the Adult Vision Advisory Committee of Prevent Blindness America, the National Academies of Practice, American Glaucoma Society and sits on the Board of Directors of the Glaucoma Foundation. Dr. Fingeret is president of the Optometric Glaucoma Society as well as chair of the Glaucoma Diplomate committee of the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Fingeret, the recipient of the 2005 Carel C. Koch Memorial Medal from the American Academy of Optometry, 1996 Otsuka Glaucoma Educators Award from the American Academy of Optometry and 1999 AMSUS Federal Service Optometrist of the Year award. Dr. Fingeret has authored numerous articles and co-authored the texts "Atlas of Primary Eyecare Procedures" and "Primary Care of the Glaucomas". Dr. Fingeret sits on the advisory boards for Carl Zeiss Meditec, Heidelberg Engineering, Pfizer, Alcon, Welch Allyn and Allergan. Dr. Fingeret receives research support from Carl Zeiss Meditec, Alcon, and Welch Allyn.

DR. ANDREW MORGENSTERN

Dr. Andrew Morgenstern is currently the Clinical Director for the Rockville, Maryland office of TLC Laser Eye Centers.  In addition, he serves as the Washington DC Regional Clinical Director, in which he oversees ten centers in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. He is a graduate of Boston University and Nova Southeastern College of Optometry, and completed his training at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. As a faculty member of both The Georgetown University School of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology and The University of Virginia School of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology, Dr. Morgenstern supervises the Medical Resident Refractive Surgery Programs.  At present, he is an appointed member of the TLC Laser Eye Centers Clinical Director Advisory Group, a refractive surgery COPE continuing education reviewer, a member of the AOA and Optometric Council of Refractive Technology, and a candidate for fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry in 2008.  Dr. Morgenstern lectures extensively on refractive surgery and refractive technology.

LEO P. SEMES, O.D., F.A.A.O.

Leo P. Semes, OD, is Professor of Optometry and the Director of Continuing Education at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. He earned his doctor of optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) in Philadelphia and completed his residency at The Eye Institute of PCO.

Dr Semes has authored or coauthored numerous articles and abstracts in major optometry publications including Optometry: Journal of the American Optometry Association and Optometry and Vision Science and is the author of several book chapters. Dr. Semes has authored over 125 scientific articles and posters. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, as well as an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Southern Council of Optometrists. He has contributed as principal author and panel member for the AOA’s Clinical Practice Guidelines for Ocular Surface Disease and Peripheral Retinal Disorders and Retinal Detachment. Dr. Semes is a founding member of the Optometric Glaucoma Society and a founding fellow of the Optometric Retina Society.

An accomplished educator, Dr Semes has received numerous teaching awards, including the UAB President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. In addition, he has been listed in 2000 Outstanding Intellectuals of the 21st Century and in Who’s Who in the 21st Century.
